Graphic Novel Tells Story Of Nigeria’s Atlanta ’96 Olympics Feat
A UK-based non-governmental organization, Community Sport and Educational Development (CSED), has commissioned a 40-page graphic novel that tells the story of Team Nigeria at the Atlanta ’96 Olympic Games.
Titled “Nigerian Golden Legends,” the 40-page publication is the first of its kind in the sport sector in Nigeria. Project Manager of CSED, Cornelius Ehimiaghe expressed satisfaction with the initiative.
“It’s a special time to celebrate our sports legends considering their performance in 1996, as well as the positive impact and goodwill that Nigeria and Nigerians benefitted from the international community, after the feat of Team Nigeria 1996.
“Today, we talk about the “Dream Team” because some Nigerians went to Atlanta and did the unthinkable. The novel also showcases efforts of other Team Nigeria athletes who excelled at the Atlanta Games,” Mr. Ehimiaghe said in a statement made available to the media by PR agency, MATCHROOM SPORTS & MEDIA.
Mr. Ehimiaghe applauded the illustrator, Akinboye Sunkanmi, who drew the colourful actions of this novel. The comic is available to be read or downloaded online free of charge, via www.csed.co.uk. CSED is an NGO that uses sports to promote education and social wellbeing of Nigerian children and youths.
